Accessibility

I build systems for a living, and a system that only some people can use is not finished. This site is meant to work for everyone, whatever device, browser, or assistive technology they use.

What I aim for

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is the standard the ADA cases and most healthcare and legal procurement checklists point to, and it is the one I build client sites against.

What that means here

  • Everything works from the keyboard alone. Tab moves through it, Enter and Space act, Escape closes.
  • Every control has a name a screen reader can announce, including the search, the category filters, and the question form.
  • Text and controls meet the contrast ratios in both the light and dark themes, and you pick the theme.
  • Text scales with your browser settings, and the layout holds at 200% zoom and on small screens.
  • Motion is minimal, and it turns off if your system asks for reduced motion.
  • No accessibility overlay or toolbar. Those widgets sit on top of the problem instead of fixing it. The fixes here are in the code.

Single key shortcut

On the home page, pressing C copies my email address. If your screen reader or voice software needs that key for itself, switch it off here and the button under my name still does the same job.

If something does not work

Tell me. If any part of this site is hard to use with your setup, I want to know which part and what you were using, and I will fix it. and you will hear back the same day.
